I may not be musical, but my teapot is

My teacup and general tea collection has rapidly been growing since we've moved, which is good timing since we now have more room for having items on display. My grandma (Skelton) gave me this teapot music box this last summer. I should double-check who it belonged to in the family, but my she was going to give it to my mother and Mom graciously let me add it to my collection.

I'm hooked

I read in a magazine or blog about how women go through phases, and love to either shop for clothes or for the house. Right now I am definitely in the latter phase. I am making a home, here! The little details make all the difference, and I want to fully enjoy the at-least next four years in our home. I hesitated decorating our tiny little house in Fremont because of our unknown timeline and worrying about nail holes. Taking joy in the process of getting everything "just right" is easy, now that I don't have the attitude that I have to wait.

The end result

Remember the initial design? It sure came a long way!

Craft time!

The scrapbook nook is coming along. I used the table to make the first birthday card for this weekend.

Today I cut and pasted and played with puffy paint, magic markers, glitter. It was AMAZING!

Not only did I have fun playing around, but the person receiving the card was a 3 year-old, so I didn't have to worry too much about getting critiqued. ;)

It's a secret

So I haven't made any progress since a couple of days ago, but the week is not over! I did, however, purchase some more organizing materials (on sale, 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby and 50% off sale at Michael's) to help my scrapbook nook. That area will be improved upon tomorrow.

Also, I am super excited about a mini-project. It is not a freelance job, but instead a quick home-project that will in turn aide me in my other work. Vague, I know, but I don't want to disclose my project (not completely my idea, I read about it in a magazine) until I have more accomplished.

So this is why cleaning is a good idea

Right after I posted about my office goal, I started work. Nothing like writing in a blog to create some accountability, huh?

I was so glad I did--because the next day (yesterday) I got off work almost an hour late and was cranky after ugly Lincoln traffic. I came home and saw the clean(er) office and was able to muster a smile.

Plus, I got my Martha magazine in the mail.

Can she do it?

Goal this week: get the office in better order.

I have two "Princess" birthday cards to make by the weekend, and my table space that I desperately told Ben would solve the clutter in the scrapbook corner is covered.

Yeah, yeah big surprise. But I watched two episodes of Hoarders last week and that is enough for me. Plus, think of how much my productivity will go up if I can see my scrappin' table!

A day of indulgences

Yesterday I had to work my first full Saturday shift--open to close, to 4 p.m.
Saturdays at this store are very slow, and I was encouraged by co-workers to work on Sudoku or bring reading material for the afternoon.

During my lunch break I visited Barnes and Noble and quickly had to pick something entertaining. Though I was at first reluctant to spend the money, my eyes kept going back to this magazine, which I eventually purchased:

After work I walked a couple of shops down to Le Quartier Bakery. My only other visit had been on a lunch break, so I was too full to try anything. I decided it was time to support my local business and make another out-of-the-norm purchase:

German Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Strawberries and Chocolate, and Red Velvet. We shared these with friends over coffee and Pinochle. My favorite was the Red Velvet; the cream cheese frosting was divine.

Before dessert, we went on a "double" with R and Jesse and tried out the Blue Orchid. The Thai restaurant doesn't have a website, but check out a photo of the interior.

Every indulgence I gave in to gave me inspiration for a new project, or re-interest in previous ideas. Let's see where my newfound inspiration will lead next.

**p.s. the lady at the bakery actually apologized; she said there was a mistake in the shipment, so the liners were pink instead of the standard silver. I love them!

Just so you know

I was inspired today. And I am excited to add a new post to my blog sometime this weekend. It has been a horrifically long time since I have updated--not since I have created, mind you, but since I have documented the work.

More later.
